While the Dp DOCK can technically be connected via a mobile hotspot, we strongly advise against this and recommend using a stable Wi-Fi connection instead. There are several important reasons for this:
Overnight Updates: The Dp DOCK performs automatic essential overnight updates, which require a stable and continuous Wi-Fi connection.
Signal Stability: The DOCK and its connected device need to remain within consistent range. Hotspot connections from smartphones or tablets tend to have a shorter range and are more prone to disconnection, especially if the device is moved.
Frequent Dropouts: Mobile hotspots are known to time out or drop out frequently, which often results in the need for manual reconnection.
Data Restrictions: Many hotspot plans come with data limits or throttling, which could interfere with the DOCK’s performance.
Manual Maintenance: Connecting via hotspot would likely require more daily maintenance and monitoring than simply syncing the pen with the app as needed.
In summary, the Dp DOCK was neither designed nor tested for hotspot use, and DermapenWorld highly recommends against relying on this type of connection.
