# Why do I need to select a model of Dermapen?

Selecting the correct model of DermapenWorld device is critical as not only will the app give you the right experience for your device (Consumer and Professional versions differ slightly), it will also allow you to register your device and during the Connect & Sync process the correct firmware and needle recognition details onto your device.
