# Why does the Firmware version for my device and Dp DOCK not match?

Firmware is a form of microcode or program embedded into hardware devices to help them operate effectively. The firmware version indicates which firmware version is currently loaded onto your device.

Both the Dp DOCK and your DermapenWorld device will run on different firmware versions as different firmware has been loaded onto each product for it to perform.
